A slowly developing catch all of ideas, observations, rants, breakdowns, and the such.

Apparently we've put in a firewall so I can post but not read what I've posted on the site. Very good... Sigh
The long awaited 2nd Memphis entry!!!
2/6/03
The City of Memphis is different from what I remembered ten years ago, or what I expected it to be this time. Its dying from the middle, caving in on itself like a rotten tooth. And them, in the heart of it is Graceland. A jewel in th ecity. A spot of tranquility where time has literally stood still. The 70s are back!
I don't know if it was the rain, or Elvis music in my ears, or just being alone in a strange place, but I got introspective. The last time I was there is was raining, I was with the so-called love of my life at the time (so sad), and I had hair down to the middle of my back. As I walked out the back of hte house toward the horse pasture, my thoughts were drawn to a photo I still have of me next to the "do not feed the horses" sign.
In what seemed like a blink to me, ten years had passed. In front of that fence, between the old office and the raquetball court, I relived those years and wondered how I got to where I am today: living in North Carolina with S, two dogs, a house, a job. Its more than I imagined or could have asked for. While I miss the people and things I've left behind sometimes, I am so thankful for the world I've been given for now.
Very sappy I know, but it was a sad, happy, weird feeling. Thanks King!
